Dutch Team defeats Chinese Taipei in exhibition game
WHITEHORSE, Yukon (Canada) -
The Dutch National Softball Team on Thursday won 7-1 vs. Chinese Taipei in an exhibition game, which was the final preparation for the upcoming World Championship.
The Orange outhit the Asian squad, 10-3 and rallied for four runs in the fourth inning.
Britt Vonk got four runs batted in.
Also on Thursday, Kathleen McGarvey arrived in Whitehorse to be with the team again as one of the Physical Therapists.
And in the meantime, the parents of Dagmar Bloeming, Chantal Versluis and Anne Blaauwgeers have also arrived.
The Dutch Team opens the World Championship on Friday-evening vs. China.
All 66 games from the ISF XIII Women’s World Championship will be webstreamed live.
Games will be recorded and archived for on-demand viewing as well.

The Dutch and Taipeh-squad both scored in the first inning.
The Orange opened the score when Britt Vonk singled with two outs, stole second base and scored on a single by Saskia Kosterink.
Dutch starter Femke van Dusschoten then gave up the tying run in the second half of the at bat when the Dutch defense committed an error.
In the second inning, Nathalie Timmermans tripled with two outs, but stranded.
After another scoreless third at bat, the Orange rallied for four runs in the fourth inning to take a 5-1 lead.
Areke Spel led off with a walk, then everyone was safe on a grounder by Anne Blaauwgeers.
Two flyouts followed, then the bases got loaded when Nathalie Gosewehr walked.
A basehit by Meike Witteveen then cleared the bases and gave the Dutch a 4-1 lead.
Moments later, Meike stole third base and scored on a following throwing error to make it 5-1.
The Dutch Team added two runs in the sixth inning.
Chantal Versluis led off with a bunt-single and stole second base, then advanced on a single by Merel Oosterveld.
After Merel stole second base to get into scoring position, Chantal scored on a sac-fly by Petra van Heijst.
With two outs, Merel accounted for the seventh run when Saskia Kosterink tripled.
Taipei got a scoring opportunity when it got the bases loaded in the fourth inning after the first three batters reached base.
But then, an infield-fly followed and Femke followed with two strikeouts to end the inning.
In the fifth, Lindsey Meadows took over the pitching for the Dutch squad and struckout five seven batters she faced.
