Career
2013 --- Solange, who this year also started a career in javelin, finishes in ninth place during the Dutch National Championships on July 21 in the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam.
2012 --- On June 8, Solange is one of nine players who are cut from the roster of the Dutch National Softball Team for participation in the World Cup of Softball (Oklahoma City, USA), a series of games in Seattle (USA) and the World Championship in Whitehorse (Canada). The nine players remain on the list as alternates --- In the regular season, Solange misses several games due to a wrist-injury, but she hits .277 with eight extra basehits, including two homeruns, playing in 23 games, scores 13 runs and has 13 runs batted --- With Terrasvogels, she reaches the Play-Offs, but the team is then eliminated by Alcmaria Victrix, which goes on to win the Dutch championship --- In October, Solange is one of 31 players named to the preliminary roster of the Dutch National Softball Team for the 2013 season, but she withdraws a few week later to focus on other interests.
2011 --- In March, Solange participates with the Dutch National Team in the American Tour to Florida and Tennessee --- On March 2, Solange hits 2-for-4 with a double vs. University of Michigan --- On March 7, she is 2-for-3 with a triple vs. Ball State University --- The next day, Solange hits 2-for-4, scores once and has one RBI in the game vs. St. John's University --- On March 13, she goes 2-for-2 with a triple and has two RBI's in the game against University of Wisconsin-Green Bay --- On May 29, with a 6th inning single, Solange bats in the team's only two runs in the third game of the Holland Tour and the first of a double-header vs. the Dutch Men Softball Team --- In June, Solange participates with the Dutch National Team in the Torneo 150 Anni Unitá d'Italia in Bollate (Italy) and therefore is a member of the team when it plays the 100th game in history against Italy on June 2 --- During the tournament, Solange hits a 3-run double on June 3 against SK Joudrs Praha from the Czech Republic --- On July 3, in the first game of a double-header (which was part of the Holland Tour) against the National Team of Argentina, Solange is 1-for-1, has one walk and scores once --- In the second game vs. Argentina, Solange was 2-for-4 (including a triple), scored once and had one RBI --- On July 13, Solange is one of the 17 players named to the roster of the Dutch National Softball Team for this years European Championship in Italy --- On July 31, Solange is 4-for-4, including three triples (record) and a homerun, scores four runs and has five RBI's against Ukraine in the opening game of the European Championship in Italy --- The next day, she adds an RBI-double, scores once and has two RBI's against Spain --- On August 2, Solange is 3-for-3, including her fourth triple of the event, scores twice and has three RBI's in the game against Denmark --- On August 5, she is 2-for-4, including a 2-run, inside-the-park-homerun in the eighth inning of the semi-final against Italy --- The next day Solange has an RBI-single in the final against Italy --- Later in August, Solange participates in the European Cup Winners Cup-tournament in Castions di Strada (Italy) with Terrasvogels, which finishes in second place --- In the regular season, Solange hits .391 (third best in her team) and she leads Terrasvogels with 26 runs, 34 basehits, nine triples, two homeruns and is second-best with 20 RBI's --- Her nine triples are the most this season in the Dutch big league. Solange also shares first place with Areke Spel with 62 total bases --- In the Additional Round, that follows the regular season, Solange hits .438 with seven basehits, including a double, triple and homerun --- In the Play-Offs, Solange leads all players of the four participating teams with eight runs batted in, while hitting .429 with a homerun --- In the Holland Series, Solange hits .455 (5-for-11), leads Terrasvogels with three runs batted in. Her five hits are the most of all players, sharing first place with Areke Spel of Sparks Haarlem --- In October, Solange is one of 21 players named to the preliminary roster of the Dutch National Softball Team for the 2012 season.
2010 --- In January, Solange participates with the National squad (playing for Team Blue) in the International Indoor Cup in Schiedam (Netherlands) with her team finishing in second place --- On January 18, Solange is one of 21 players named to the preliminary roster for this years World Championships --- On May 23, Solange has two RBI's in the second vs. the Foreign All Star Team --- Also on May 23, Solange represents Iber Lengua Terrasvogels in the Homerun Contest during the Softball Gala 2010 in Haarlem --- On May 26, Solange is one of 16 players who is named to the final roster for the World Championship in Venezuela --- On June 26, Solange plays in her 25th official international game for the Dutch National Softball Team and delivers an RBI-single against Argentina during the World Championship in Venezuela, which would give the Dutch a 4-3 victory --- On June 29, Solange is 1-for-3 and hits a homerun against Canada to account for the lone run in a 6-1 loss --- In August, Solange participates in the Cup Winners Cup Tournament in Haarlem (Netherlands) with Terrasvogels --- In the regular season, Solange hits .280 (fourth best of her team) with 26 basehits, including four doubles and two triples, while scoring 15 runs and having 14 RBI's in 32 games for Terrasvogels --- On October 31, Solange is one of 24 players to be named to the preliminary roster of the Dutch National Softball Team for the 2011 season --- On November 7-15, Solange travels to Benin with a delegation of Right To Play. In this African country, Solange conducts clinics and visits facilities set-up by Right To Play. Since June 2009, the Dutch National Softball Team is ambassador of this organization.
2009 --- On May 3, Solange makes her debut in the Dutch National Softball Team in the opening game of the Holland Tour against Euro Stars and hits a single in her first-ever at bat --- On May 10, Solange scores twice and has an RBI in the second game vs. Centrals --- On May 18, Solange triples and scores in the opening game vs. Gryphons --- On May 24, Solange is 2-for-3 and has two RBI's in the opening game vs. Twins --- On May 27, Solange is one of the 17 players who is named to the final roster for the Dutch National Team to participate in this years international events --- In the second game of the double-header vs. Robur '58 on May 31, Solange is 2-for-4, including a homerun, and has two RBI's --- On June 3, Solange hits a 2-run triple and scores once in the second game against the Dutch Juniors --- On June 14, Solange 1-for-2 (double), scores once and has three RBI's in the opener of a double-header against the Foreign All Stars, then is 1-for-1 in Game Two --- On June 19, Solange makes her international debut in the game against Great Britain --- On June 21, Solange scores three runs in the second game vs. Great Britain --- On July 7, Solange is 1-for-3, hitting a double in the game vs. Canada, during the Canada Cup --- On July 25, Solange is 1-for-1 with two RBI's in an exhibition game vs. Great Britain prior the European Championships in Valencia --- On July 27, Solange hits a 2-run triple and scores as a pinch-hitter in the game vs. France, the opener of the European Championships in Valencia --- On July 28, Solange is 2-for-4 with a double, scores a run and has three RBI's in the game vs. Austria during the European Championships --- On July 31, Solange is 4-for-5, scores twice and has an RBI in the come-from-behind victory vs. the Czech Republic during the European Championships --- On August 1, Solange is a member of the Dutch Team which brings the European title back to the Netherlands for the first time in 19 years --- Two weeks later, Solange participates with Terrasvogels in the CupWinners Cup-tournament in Parma (Italy), which is won by her team for the first time in six years --- In the regular season, Solange hits .299, scores 16 runs, hits 10 extra basehits and has 21 runs batted in (the extra basehits and RBI's are second best of her team).
2008 --- This year, Solange plays in her third big league-season, adds two homeruns and has 14 RBI's --- With Terrasvogels, she plays in her first European Cup-tournament, which is held in Czech capital Prague --- On December 11, Solange is one of 28 players being named to the preliminary roster of the Dutch National Team for 2009 and is invited to start practice in January.
2007 --- In her first season playing for Terrasvogels, Solange hits .297, has 15 RBI's and hits 22 basehits, including her first two big league-homeruns --- With Terrasvogels, she participates this season in the CupWinners Cup-tournament in Prague (Czech Republic), finishing in second place.
2006 --- Solange is selected for the Dutch National Junior Team this year and participates in the Indoor Cup in Schiedam. Later in the year, she travels with the team to Italy for the European Championships, but is unable to play due to an injury --- This year, Solange also makes het debut in the Dutch Major League, playing for Centrals --- In her first big league-season, she plays in 27 games and hits .303, collecting 23 basehits --- After the season, she decides to change clubs and is going to play for Terrasvogels.
2004 --- Solange gets her first international experience when she participates with Centrals in the annual International Indoor Cup in Schiedam (Netherlands).
2000 --- Solange makes the switch from baseball to softball in the same year her club is renamed Centrals after the merger between HMS and FAK.
1995 --- This year, Solange starts playing baseball for HMS in Utrecht. This club later merges with FAK after the 1999 season to become Centrals.
Family
SOLANGE is the daughter of Monique and has an older sister, Ilse and a younger brother, Redmar.
