Japanese coaches Taeko Utsugi and Yoshimi Kobayashi conducted a practice session of the Netherlands National Softball Team on Friday, January 24 at the team's indoor facility in Sporthallen Zuid in Amsterdam.
It was a day full of activities, as the two coaches gave instructions and advice during several drills.
Two days earlier, the two coaches also were at the regular Tulip League-intersquad game of the Orange squad.
Yesterday, they had a meeting with representatives of the Organizing Committee of the upcoming ISF World Women's Championship, which will be held August 15-24 in Haarlem (Netherlands).
Taeko Utsugi, who also visited the Netherlands in 2009, has a long coaching career of more than 20 years.
She was an Assistant Coach of the National Team of Japan during the Olympic Games of 1996 in Atlanta (USA), then led the team as Head Coach on the Olympic Games of 2000 in Sydney (Australia) and 2004 in Athens (Greece), winning respectively the Silver and Bronze Medal.
The very experienced Taeko Utsugi also was the Head Coach of Japan during three World Championships and three Asia Games.
In 2005, she was elected into the ISF Hall of Fame and currently is one of two Vice-Presidents for Asia in the Board of Directors if the International Softball Federation.
Yoshimi Kobayashi coached the team of Hitachi Maxell at the highest level in Japan last season.
On April 8, 2009, Taego Utsugi participated in a clinic at the Japanese School of Amsterdam.
She was joined that day by players Saskia Kosterink and Rebecca Soumeru and Head Coach Craig Montvidas.
The players and coaches of the National Team enjoyed the company of the two Japanese coaches very much and thank them for being with the squad these days.
On Saturday, January 25, Taeko Utsugi and Yoshimi Kobayashi gave a clinic during the World Championship Promo Tour in Tilburg and on Sunday, January 26, they conducted a practice session of the Netherlands National Junior Teams in Amsterdam.
