The game also saw some fine defensive plays.

Head Coach Craig Montvidas today was with the team for the first time since undergoing a hip-surgery in December. He oversaw the practice and the game, but the coaching was done by Karen Marr and Berend Mannessen.

For the first time during this years Tulip League Season, the Dutch National Team was joined by two players from the Dutch Junior Red Team, being Brenda Beers and Rachel van Veen.

Team Orange opened the score in the first inning. Anne Blaauwgeers led off the game with a bunt-single, advanced on a grounder by Merel Oosterveld and a passed ball, then scored on a single by Areke Spel.

In the second inning, Orange left the bases loaded. Yonina Sint Jago led off with a walk and Anne Blauwgeers doubled with one out. After a flyout, Areke Spel was hit by a pitch. A force play-grounder then ended the inning, but also left the bases loaded.

She then advanced to third base on a grounder by Rachel van Veen, one of the two players of the Dutch Junior Red Team. An error on a grounder by Lindsey Meadows then enabled Virginie to score.

The lead was increased to 5-0 in the fourth inning. With one out, Areke Spel and Karin Tuk singled, then Virginie Anneveld homered to account for the runs. Virginie's homerun was the 17th in Tulip League-history, which began n November 2009.

Team Blue collected three basehits off of three pitchers and reached base only six times. After being retired in order in the first and second inning by starter Lindsey Meadows, Team Blue reached base in the third at bat. Sophie Bugter led off with a single and Nathalie Gosewehr singled with one out. After the two runners advanced on a grounder by Chantal Versluis, centerfielder Areke Spel made a nice catch on a hit by Jessie van Aalst to end the inning.

Suzanne Meiring accounted for the third Team Blue-basehit in the fourth inning.

Dagmar Bloeming threw the final three innings for Team Orange, struckout four, walked one batter, gave up no basehits and was supported with a double play that ended the game. The double play began when 2B Yonina Sint Jago caught a line drive hit by Nathalie Gosewehr.
