The Dutch National Softball Team on Monday, July 8 added another shutout in its second game of the European Championship in Prague.
Today, the Dutch won 10-0 against Croatia to clinch a spot in the Qualification Round for the Play-Offs.
In Today's game, the Dutch Team collected six basehits, including an inside-the-park-homerun by Nathalie Gosewehr.
Marisèla de Wind today played in her first official international game for the Dutch squad.
On Tuesday, the Orange closes the Preliminary Round against Slovakia, starting at 13:30 PM.
Today, only six basehits were registered, but the Croation pitching added eleven walks, while also hitting a batter.
Did the Dutch Team opened the game against Spain with an 8-run rally in the first inning, today, the squad was held scoreless in its first at bat by Croatia.
With one out, Chantal Versluis walked and Britt Vonk singled, but they stranded on the bases.
But then, a 2-out, 6-run rally followed in the second inning on only three hits.
Karin Tuk and Anne Blaauwgeers led off with singles, then the bases got loaded when Marisèla de Wind walked with one out.
After an infield-fly accounted for the second out, Chantal Versluis doubled to bring in the first two runs.
Karin Tuk scored the first run, which also was the 100th Dutch run in history against Croatia.
A passed ball and wild pitch then lifted the lead to 4-0.
Hereafter, Britt Vonk, Yonina Sint Jago and Dinet Oosting all walked and that led to a pitching change.
The Croatian catcher took over in the circle, but she then walked Karin Tuk and Anne Blaauwgeers, meaning five consecutive walks were issued and this led to two more runs.
The last run was scored by Yonina Sint Jago, which was the 1000th Dutch run during an European Championship.
A grounder then ended the inning, but the Dutch had taken a 6-0 lead.
Three runs were added in the third inning.
Marisèla de Wind led off with a walk and then Nathalie Gosewehr drilled the ball down the rightfield-line for a 2-run, inside-the-park-homerun.
Next, Chantal Versluis reached on an error, but a line drive by Britt Vonk resulted in a double play.
However, the scoring didn't stop.
Yonina Sint Jago walked and scored all the way from first base on a double into centerfield by Dinet Oosting.
The bases then got loaded when Karin Tuk walked and Anne Blaauwgeers was hit by a pitch, but they were left behind.
The 10-run difference as reached in the fourth at bat.
With one out, Nathalie Gosewehr walked, then advanced on a wild pitch.
After another pitching change and with two outs, Nathalie moved to third base on an another wild pitch and could score the tenth run when a throwing error to third base followed.
Croatia was held hitless by the Dutch pitching.
Starter Lindsey Meadows retired all six batters she faced, five of them with a strikeout.
Femke van Dusschoten pitched the next two innings.
She also struckout five batters.
With one out in the fourth inning, Iva Šerić became the lone Croatian baserunner due to an error.
