Dutch Team closes season 2009 & meets Cadets
NIEUWEGEIN (Neth.) - The Dutch National Softball Team closed its 2009 season on September 30, but a week earlier, on the 23rd, a special practice session was conducted.
For this practicce, the successful National Junior Team was invited to participate.
In August, this team participated in the first-ever Under 16 Youth World championships, which was held in Czech capital Prague.
And there, the team, led by Head Coach André Prins, played a great tournament and went on to reach the final in which it finally lost to Japan, but captured the Silver Medal.
To honor their accomplishment, the team was invited not only to participate in the practice, but also to meet the players and staff of the Dutch National Team.
At the site of Nieuwegein Diamonds, the players first met each other in brief one-on-one talks and then joined in a combined warming-up.
Hereafter, several little games were performed with some of them focusing on hitting and others on running or throwing.
Afterwards, both teams enjoyed a combined diner.
Between the activities on the 23rd and 30th, Dutch National Team-players Dagmar Bloeming, Nathalie Gosewehr and Karin Tuk conducted a clinic on a school in Noordwijk.
The Dutch National Team gets together again on Sunday, November 1 to start its preparations for the 2010 international season.
Of course, you can follow all the action again of the national squad on this site.
