Roster-invitees get try-out

NIEUWEGEIN (Neth.) - One week before the start of the regular indoor practice sessions to open preparations for the international season 2010, eight players were invited for the Dutch National Softball Team and got a try-out today at Sports Hall 'Merwestein' at Nieuwegein.
The eight roster-invitees were pitcher Malou van Dusschoten (Alcmaria Victrix), infielders Kim Donkers (Euro Stars), Yonina Sint Jago (Gryphons) and Anne Vlietstra (Alcmaria Victrix) and outfielders Maaike Blaauwgeers (Centrals), Iliandra Figaroa (Gryphons), Lotte Holvast (Centrals) and Fabienne van Uden (Twins).
Besides getting a try-out, the eight were also informed by Head Coach Craig Montvidas and Team Manager Paul Boonstra about the schedule and other details concerning the national squad.
After completion of the try-out, Yonina Sint Jago informed the Head Coach that it is impossible for her to combine her regular job with the scheduled practice sessions and therefore had to withdraw.
A few days later, Iliandra Figaroa also had to withdraw as she also is unable to combine the schedule of the national team with that of her study.
The remaining six roster-invitees will join the national team on November 1 for the first scheduled indoor practice at Enschede.
The six are invited to practice with the team the coming months.
