Nederlandse tekst

NIEUWEGEIN (Neth.) - American coach Tracy Bunge will assist Head Coach Craig Montvidas in the months of November and December, replacing Nancy Evans. The latter currently is back home in the States, recovering from a recent hamstring-surgery she had early November.

On November 10, Tracy Bunge arrived in the Netherlands and a day later, she joined the Dutch National Softball Team during an indoor practice session in Voorthuizen.

In May 2009, Tracy Bunge concluded her 13th and final season as Head Coach of the softball program of the University of Kansas in Lawrence (Kansas). After retiring, Coach Bunge was the longest serving coach of the University's softball program, as well as the winningest coach in its history. In her final season, she reached the 500-victory career mark and also registered her 400th win with Kansas. In 13 seasons of coaching the Jayhawks, Tracy Bunge led the team to 409 victories and to two NCAA Tournament appearances in the last five seasons. In ten seasons (five of the last six), she led the team to 30 or more victories.

Tracy Bunge became the Head Coach of the Jayhawks in June 1996 and led the team in 1997 (her first season), 1999, 2005 and 2006 to the NCAA Championship Tournament. Before coming to Kansas, Tracy was the Head Coach at Ohio University (1994-1996). Before that, she was the Assistant Coach at Yale University (1992-1993) and Iowa State University 1987-1991.

From 1983-1986, Tracy dominated as pitcher, while playing herself for the Jayhawks at the University of Kansas. In her four years, she became one of the most decorated athletes of the school and was elected into the University of Kansas Athletics Hall of Fame. In her career, her pitching record was 39-8.

In 1985, Tracy was a member of the Athletes-in-Action Team that toured Europe. After graduating from the University of Kansas, Tracy continued her playing career and played for the St. Louis Classics (1988-1990), but also the famous Raybestos Brakettes (1991-1993). With the Brakettes, she was a member of the 1992 National Championship team.
