Conflict in Dutch staff?
Nederlandse tekst
CARACAS (Venezuela) - Unfortunately, it has to be reported that since today, there is a conflict in the staff of the Dutch National Softball Team. The three coaches are completely opposite to the members of the supporting staff.
What has happened?
It all has to do with the ongoing World Soccer Championship in South Africa.
There, the national teams of both the Netherlands and the USA have qualified for the next round.
The USA will play its next game vs. Ghana next Saturday, while the Dutch will meet Slovakia on Monday.
The losing team will be eliminated. When both win their game, they will advance to the quarter final and when they also win that game, the USA and Dutch will meet each other in the semi-final.
Head Coach Craig Montvidas and his Coaches Nancy Evans and Tracy Bunge, all three Americans, have taken the side of the USA Soccer Team, while Team Manager Paul Boonstra, Business Manager Rich Hooff and Physical Therapist Sanne Oude Egberink are rooting for the Netherlands Soccer Team and stated that the Americans had an easy draw in the preliminary round, while the coaches state that the best teams have to be eliminated.
It resulted in a rivalry and a separation into two camps.
And how about Media Officer Marco Stoovelaar, who writes all these stories?
He could have made the difference in this, but he remains neutral, as he doesn't like soccer!
Luckily for everyone involved, the 'conflict' only has to do with the soccer championship and nothing with the Softball World Championship! What softball is concerned, the staff and the players form a great team. They all have a wonderful bond together, have fun together and are working hard together to get the best possible result!
And so, in the end, it will be an American-Dutch friendship for life!
