NIEUWEGEIN (Neth.) - On Friday, June 11, Head Coach Craig Montvidas completed his final roster for the World Championhip in Venezuela by adding pitcher Lindsey Meadows, bringing the total to 17 players.
With her selection, Lindsey will make her international debut with the Dutch Softball Team.
On May 26, the previous 16 players were named to the roster.
Lindsey Meadows, who was born and raised in the United States, is playing in the Dutch Major League since 2005 for Tex Town Tigers, with whom she won the Dutch championship title in 2008 and 2009.
Since her first year in the Netherlands, Lindsey has become a dominating pitcher and was named Best Pitcher and Most Valuable Player of the 2007 and 2008 seasons in the Dutch big league.
Earlier this year, Lindsey married Dutchman Tim Oosterveld, who plays baseball at Tex Town Tigers.
In the past, she expressed interest in obtaining the Dutch citizenship and procedures to do so started last year.
In recent weeks, the process quickened, resulting in Lindsey becoming a Dutch citizen last Wednesday, which happened during a ceremony in her home town of Enschede.
For Head Coach Craig Montvidas, Lindsey Meadows became a welcome addition for eventual selection moments.
Today, he added the righthanded pitcher, who also can hit, to his final roster for the World Championship in Venezuela.
