Ceremonial wedding in Thailand

Nederlandse tekst

SISAKET (Thailand) - Team Manager Paul Boonstra married to his wife Rung on Saturday, January 8 in Sisaket in the northeast of Thailand. Paul and Rung already were married in the Netherlands in 2005, but today married for the second time in Thailand in a Buddhist ceremony, enabling Rung's family to attend the ceremony.

Paul Boonstra is the Team Manager of the Dutch National Team since January 2009 (after having served in the same position earlier in 2001-September 2002 and 2006-May 2007) and was the Team Manager in 2010 for the Dutch Junior Red Team.

On January 8, Paul married for the second time to the same wife, this time in Thailand, where his wife Rung is coming from. After making the necessary appointments, organize and arrange everything with family, local monks and others in December, the first festivities of the ceremonial Buddhist wedding started on Friday-evening, January 7 at their home in Sisaket. These first festivities included the arrival of nine monks, prayals, emptying a glass of water and handing gifts to the monks.

The next day, which started early, Paul and Rung dressed in special clothing. After a breakfast with the monks, Paul had to leave home with the guests then had to walk back to the home in a parade. After several traditionals rituals were performed to enter the house, Paul and Rung were reunited and the Buddhist wedding ceremony started, which was a special experience. In the evening, the weddingceremony ended with a party attended by some 250 guests, including the chief of the village, as well as a parliament representative, who represents the province of Sisaket, but also Paul's sister Marjon and Carla and his brother-in-law Ger.

At the right is the invitation for attending Paul and Rung's marriage ceremony.

Of course, all of us from the Dutch National Softball Teams congratulate Paul and Rung with their marriage!

Here are some photos of Paul and Rung's wedding.
