PLANT CITY, Florida (USA) - To celebrate the 45th anniversary in 2010 of the first-ever Softball World Championship, the International Softball Federation (ISF) unveiled a commemorative logo on January 13. The first World Champion was held in 1965 in Melbourne (Australia) with the participation of five countries.
,,It's important that we recognize some of the key starting points when softball was first starting to set down its now global footprint', said ISF President Don Porter.
The commemorative logo was created in Tampa (Florida, USA) by Blue Heron Media.
The ball element of both the BackSoftball-campaign, as well as the recently unveiled new logo of the ISF, has also been carried over for use in the 45-year anniversary logo.
The ISF plans to develop a patch bearing the anniversary logo, to be worn on the uniform sleeves of all participating athletes, coaches and umpires in this year's Women's World Championship to be held June 23-July 2 in Caracas (Venezuela).
The item will also be made available for purchase by fans at both the event, as well as online.
