Day 13: Dutch Team in Narita
SENDAI / NARITA (Japan) - The Dutch Olympic Softball Team left Sendai on Monday-morning and arrived around 4:30 PM in Narita, where it stays in a hotel close to the international airport. On Tuesday, the team flies to Beijing, where the Olympic Games will open in four days on Friday-evening.
In the morning, we could have a last look to the big and art-filled lobby of the Koyo Grand Hotel in Sendai and were waved goodbye by Mr. Yoshiaki Shimizu of the Sendi Sports Promotion Section.
When the team left the hotel around 9:10 AM, staffmembers of the hotel were outside to say goodbye to the team, which stayed for 12 days in the hotel.
At the hotel, we had a great time and really enjoyed being there. We had good food and the personnel was very helpfull.
In the morning, it had rained in the Sendai-area and on our way, it was a little bit foggy, but when we stopped for lunch halfway the trip to Narita, it was very hot and humid outside.
A good test for the weather conditions we will encounter in Beijing, but there is talk that rain is expected for the end of the week, when the Olympic Games will be officially opened on Friday-evening at 8:00 PM.
After arriving in Narita, the team had a dinner, there was a players' meeting and then everyone was off to their rooms to do the last (re)packing, watch TV, send e-mails and enjoy the last night in Japan.
