Five Junior-players contribute in today's game

AMSTERDAM (Netherlands) -
After a sunny (but cold) start three weeks ago, a windy and stormy last week, today started misty, but hey, the team praticed indoors, so no problems what the weather is concerned.
Today, the Dutch National Softball Team played its fourth intersquad game of the 'Tulip League'.
One more game is scheduled before the squad leaves for its 2-week trip to Florida and Tennessee.
The next intersquad game will be played on Friday, February 25, also at the Sporthallen Zuid in Amsterdam, starting at 11:45 PM.
No game was scheduled for Friday, February 18, due to the European Badminton Championship, which was staged at the indoor facility.
As several players of the Dutch Team had a medical check-up today or school commitments, only part of the team was in Amsterdam for today's pratice and game.
The team was joined by five players from the Dutch Junior Red Team, being Laura van der Bos, Sophie Bugter, Kim Buizer, Stephanie Ruiter and Jenna van Rijen.
After a practice intersquad game on January 21 in which no teams were formed, Team Black won the first intersquad 5-2, which was followed by a 5-5 tie.
Today, Team Grey won 7-4.
Team Grey scored the first two runs in the first inning in two stolen base-fielder's choice situations, enabling Fabienne van Uden and Meike Witteveen to score.
Team Black tied the score in the third at bat when Merel Oosterveld scored on a double by Areke Spel, who moments later scored herself on an error.
In the fourth inning, Team Black again scored twice to take a 4-2 lead.
Junior Jenna van Rijen led off with a bunt-single and later scored, as did Merel Oosterveld.
But in the home of the fourth, Team Grey answered with three runs, highlighted by an RBI-double off the bat of Junior Laura van der Bos, which enabled Nadine Marinus to score and put Team Grey on top again.
Team Grey scored its last two runs in the eighth inning.
Meike Witteveen (who reached base five times) scored her third run, thanks to a single by Junior Sophie Bugter, while an error led to the seventh run.
We would like to thank umpires Albert Jung and Bob Gieskens for their participation in today's intersquad game.
