Dutch Women plays two games vs. Juniors

NIEUWEGEIN (Neth.) - The Dutch National Softball Team continued its Holland Tour today with a double-header against the Dutch National Junior Team.
The Dutch Team won both games with a shutout, 5-0 and 4-0.
The final games of this years Holland Tour will be played next Sunday at Alkmaar.
Today's games were attended by a youthteam from Birds (Zoetermeer).
Game One: Netherlands vs. Dutch Juniors, 5-0
In the opening game, the Dutch Team scored three runs in the first inning.
Nathalie Gosewehr led off with a walk, then next batter Fabienne van Uden was hit by a pitch.
The bases were loaded when Britt Vonk followed with a bunt-single.
A passed ball then accounted for the first run and Areke Spel then singled to bring in Fabienne.
Britt, who also tried to score, was eliminated at the plate, thanks to a throw by leftfielder Kimberly Jones.
Nathalie Timmermans, who had returned from the USA after completion of her season in Oklahoma City and today played in her first game of the year for the national squad, was the next batter.
Nathalie grounded out, but then Nadine Marinus tripled to make it 3-0.
The National Team left the bases loaded in the second inning and was retired in order in the third, but then added two runs in the fourth at bat.
With one out, Chantal Versluis tripled and scored on a 2-out single by Fabienne van Uden.
Next, Fabienne stole both second and third base, then scored when an error was made on a grounder by Britt Vonk.
The Dutch Juniors produced three basehits, which were all hit off starter Ginger de Weert.
In the first inning, Laura Treurniet singled, but then was caught stealing.
In the second inning, Mariëlle Vleugels led off with a single and stole second base, but then three outs followed, including two strikouts.
In the third at bat, Noëmie Brandjes singled with one out, but also was caught stealing moments later.
Hereafter, the next 13 batters were retired in order, including the last six by Kirsten Scheele, who pitched the sixth and seventh inning.

Game Two: Netherlands vs. Dutch Juniors, 4-0
In the second game, the Dutch Team also opened the score in the first inning, but this time with only one run.
Anne Blaauwgeers led off with a bunt-single, then advanced to third base when a throwing error was made on a grounder by Fabienne van Uden.
Anne then scored the first run on a passed ball.
The second run was added in the third inning.
With two outs, Meike Witteveen singled and scored when alternate Kim Donkers followed with a triple.
The lead was increased to 4-0 in the next at bat.
Anouk van den Heuvel (also an alternate after last week's roster announcement) led off with a single, then stole second base.
With two outs, Anne Blaauwgeers walked, then both baserunners scored on a double by Fabienne van Uden.
In the fifth, the Dutch Team got the bases loaded.
With one out, Kim Donkers reached on an error and Solange Starrenburg and (alternate) Karin Tuk both singled.
But a flyout and groundout ended the inning, leaving the bases loaded in this 5-inning game.
The Juniors got the bases loaded in the third inning, but also was unable to score at that moment.
With one out, Kiki Draaijer singled, Kimberly Jones reached on an error and Mariséla de Wind also singled, but then two outs followed.
In the fifth inning, Eva Voortman led off with a single, advanced to third base on a sacrifice bunt by Daphne Endlich, but stranded there, as Rebecca Soumeru struckout the next two batters.
