Holland Tour-openers rain out
Nederlandse tekst
THE HAGUE (Neth.) - After having played four intersquad games as part of the preparations for this years Holland Tour, the first two games were scheduled to be played today in The Hague.
However, heavy rain resulted in an unplayable field and therefore cancellation of both games.
Last year, all scheduled games could be played, resulting in a total of 30 games during the 2009 Holland Tour.
Today, the Dutch squad would have played against the men-softball-team of Storks, as well as the Dutch National Men Softball Team at the site of Storks.
Unfortunately, all players had arrived at the field at the moment the games were cancelled and therefore had to travel back home again.
That was especially a long almost 2-hour trip again for the players from the city of Enschede in the east of the country.
But their day got a good ending, as local soccer club Fc Twente won the Dutch championship title for the first time in their history.
As of now, there are no plans to re-schedule the cancelled games.
