Practice & Photos
NIEUWEGEIN (Neth.) - Today, Wednesday, May 13, the Dutch National Softball Team was about to play the next two games in the Holland Tour with the Foreign All Star Team to be the opponent for the first time in this series.
But, as mentioned earlier, the staff of the Dutch Team decided to cancel this double-header due to several logistical reasons, as some of the foreign players in the Dutch competition were not available, while some others had slight injuries.
Also, some of the foreign players have yet to arrive, meaning the All Star Team would be incomplete.
The Dutch Team now will meet the Foreign All Stars on May 27, also in Nieuwegein.
The next games on the schedule of the Holland Tour will be played coming Sunday, May 17 at Rosmalen, where Dutch Major League-team Gryphons will be the opponent in a double-header, that will start at 3:00 PM.
Schedule Holland Tour
As there were no games, the Dutch Team conducted a practice session on Wednesday instead, while today also was photo-day.
After completion of the practice session, the official teamphoto was taken, as well as individual photos of all players and all staffmembers.
The results of these photos, taken by Bart van Leersum of Foto Expert Beverwijk, can be seen soon on this site.
The team photo already is available and can be found on the page with the team roster.
The players and staff also thanked Judith and Pieter of Nieuwegein Diamonds for their personal assistance, preparation of the field and the meals in the past weeks during the practice sessions.
The coming weeks, the Dutch Team will continue its practice sessions in Nieuwegein on Monday and plays games there on Wednesdays.
On Fridays, the team is split into two groups, with one of them practicing in Enschede on the site of Computer SOS Tex Town Tigers and the other in Santpoort on the site of Iber Lengua Terrasvogels.
Later in the evening on Wednesday, Head Coach Craig Montvidas, Coach Nancy Evans, Team Manager Paul Boonstra and Media Officer Marco Stoovelaar had a meeting with several coaches of the Dutch big league-teams in the clubhouse of Nieuwegein Diamonds to discuss ongoing affairs and a look ahead.
