NIEUWEGEIN (Netherlands) - On another fine and sunny day, the Dutch National Softball Team again played several mini-intersquad games on Wednesday, April 22.
Next Wednesday-afternoon, the last series of intersquad games are scheduled to be played in Nieuwegein.
As mentioned in the recap of Day 1, these games serve as preparations for the upcoming Holland Tour, which will open on Sunday, May 3 with a double-header at Capelle a/d IJssel against Dutch big league-team Euro Stars.
As it was last week, today was another fine day, however, sometimes there was a chilly wind.
But despite that, it was a great day to be out on the field again and play some games.
The games eventually will lead up to the real thing with the opening of the Holland Tour on May 3, when the first of 16 double-headers is scheduled.
Making the calls behind the plate and in the field today were umpires Jac van Riel and Rob Wurtz.
As always, the players and staff of the national squad appreciate the contributions of the umpires in these games very much and are looking forward meeting them again.
