Two big softball-events coming up in 2011

AMSTERDAM (Netherlands) - In February 2011, there will be two big softball events taking place in Amsterdam. On February 12-13, the second edition of the Right To Play Future Stars Tournament will take place, which will have an international status. Two weeks later, the first National Team Showcase will be organized.

2nd Right To Play Future Stars Tournament

The second edition of the Right To Play Future Stars Softball Tournament will have an international status next year! Two teams from the Czech Republic and one from England will come to Amsterdam to participate in the 2-day event. In total, the field of participants will be compiled of seven teams, as four teams will be formed from the preliminary roster of the Dutch Junior White Team. The game schedule will be announced shortly.

In February of 2010, the Right To Play Future Stars Softball Tournament was successfully launched. An event, which was looked back at with a satisfied feeling. In the weekend of Saturday and Sunday February, 12 and 13, 2011, the huge Hall 1 of the Amsterdam Sporthallen Zuid complex again will be the site for the second edition of the Right To Play Future Stars Tournament.

For the players on the Dutch Junior White-roster, this tournament will be part of the selection-process en route to the European Cadets Championship in Deurne (Belgium). Just like this year, the games will be led by national umpires and official scorers.

The international humanitarian organization Right To Play again linked its name to the tournament. In June 2009, the Dutch National Softball Team became an ambassador of this organization following a long list of other (international) top-athletes. By using sportsgames, Right To Play improves the lives of children in several third world areas around then world with the thought that sports and games and powerful instruments which can contribute to physical and social development, peace, health and education.

National Team Showcase

In the weekend of Saturday and Sundat February, 26 and 27, 2011, everyone can have a look backstage of the Dutch National Softball Teams, from the National Team throught the Juniors and Cadets. As this weekend will be an 'Open House Weekend' in the Amsterdam-based Sporthallen Zuid.

The two-day National Team Showcase is open for everyone, who is interested in softball: players, coaches and officials of all levels, but surely also parents and other family members.

During the National Team Showcase, there will be several workshops of pitching, catching, hitting, video-analysm and umpiring. But there also will be a nutricion expert and other guest instructors also have confirmed their participation. Coaches can join their colleagues of the Dutch Teams on the floor, make notes and ask questions. The complete staff of the Dutch National Softball Teams will be available.

Besides this all, the Dutch National Softball Team, the Dutch Junior Red Team and the Dutch Junior White Team will play an exhibition indoor game. The Dutch National Softball Team and its coaches have no secrets for no one. Everyone can experience for themselves how certain strategies or situations are being handled. But also how the team works and how a practice is set up.
