Right To Play Future Stars Tournament to be played in Amsterdam

Nederlandse tekst

AMSTERDAM (Neth.) - After completion of the annual Indoor Cup Tournament, the next indoor-event is coming up, as the Right To Play Future Stars Tournament is scheduled to be played on February 6-7 in Sporthallen Zuid at Amsterdam. Participating in the event are the 27 players on the preliminary roster of the Dutch National Junior Team, divided over four different teams. Completing these teams are the 22 players from the Juniors White Team, the group of players from the Cadets-age category.

Also involved in the tournament will be the players, who are on the roster of the Dutch National Softball Team. They will have an organizational role and will act as a supporting crew for the event.

For the Dutch Juniors, the event will be part of their preparations for the European Championships, to be played in July in Austrian capital Vienna. The event also is a Qualifier for next years World Junior Champions in Cape Town (South Africa).

On Saturday and Sunday, February 6 and 7, games will start at 9:25 AM. On both days, six games are scheduled. On Sunday, the sixth game will be followed by the Championship Game.

The four teams (Orange, Red, White and Blue) will be led by former national team-players Nathalie Franssen, Sandra Gouverneur, Marjan Smit and Maaike Zijlstra, who were named Flex Coach in October.

International humanitarian organisation Right To Play has linked its name to the event. The Dutch National Softball Team became an ambassador of Right To Play in June 2009.

With the playing of regular indoor games, softball will return in this form to the Sporthallen Zuid in Amsterdam. At the end of eighties and the beginning of the nineties, this complex was the site of several indoor softball competitions. Back then, these games and competitions were developed by current Head Coach Craig Montvidas.
