Day 26: Dutch enjoy Hawaiian sun
HONOLULU (Hawaii, USA) - The players and staff of the Dutch National Softball Team on Sunday had the opportunity to enjoy their final full day on the island of Oahu in a relaxing matter, but it started less relaxed.
Initially, it was planned to visit Hanauma Bay, a beautiful nature preserve where you can swim between big fish or just sit on the beach. After six of us got in, strict rules and/or laws prevented the rest to go in as a group, so everyone left again and went back to the hotel to swim or go to the beach there. Four of us, player Sandra Gouverneur, Business Manager Caroline Theunissen, Physical Therapist Rob Oskam and Media Officer Marco Stoovelaar then decided to go to Diamond Head, an extinct volcano. Once there, we drove into the crater, but parking was impossible, as the parking lot was full and would remain for at least half an hour.
So, we went back to a viewing point near the summit and enjoyed the view, before going back to the hotel. There, most of us just relaxed after a monthlong of practices and games and to prepare for the upcoming long travel days. Therefore, packing also started, the vans we used for transport had to be turned back in and final preparations were done for the return home.
