Day 6: Strength & Conditioning
BERKELEY (California, USA) - On Monday-morning, the team had to wake up early, as breakfast was scheduled at 7:30 AM. Hereafter, it was back to the campus of Berkeley for a strength and conditioning training session, which included time in the weightroom.
The players ran stairs, jumped ropes, did conditioning drills and lifted weights in the strengthroom of California Memorial Stadium, the home of the Golden Bears American Football-team of the University of California. There was also a strange sight from the weightroom, as there were tents up the bordering trees behind the stadium and people were actually living in them. They happen to be protesters, who protest against bringing down these trees, which is the plan, due to an expansion of the road, which ran besides the stadium.
After the strength session, it was back to the softball-field for more drills. A hitting circuit was put in place, with the players hitting in the batting cage, putting down bunts and hitting off a tee. Another day of work was in the books.
