AMSTERDAM (Neth.) / MILAN / BOLLATE (Italy) -
The Dutch National Softball Team on Wednesday flew to Italy where it will participate in the Torneo 150 Anni Unitá d'Italia in Bollate from June 2-5.
At Malpensa Airport in Milan there was a big surprise, as it rained steadily!
On the first day in Italy, there was a dinner at the field and a first team-meeting.
The day started early for everyone, as we all had to be at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport at 8 AM.
Then, we encountered our first surprises, as it was extremly crowdy at the airport, at the check-in desk, but also when we went through customs.
So, there were only a few minutes left over to take a cup of coffee and something to eat.
At 10:29 AM, the KLM-Boeing 737-800 took off from Amsterdam.
One hour and 21 minutes later, Captain Koenen landed his plane at Malpensa Airport.
And there, it rained steadily.
After leaving the plane, we were welcomed by Saskia Kosterink and Lindsey Meadows, who both play in Italy.
The third Dutch player in Italy, Nathalie Gosewehr, flew with the team from Amsterdam.
More waiting followed, as it took awhile for the (wet) luggage arrived.
But after we got everything, it was off to the nearby hotel.
Luckily, the rain stopped during the day, but it remained very cloudy.
In the evening, the team had dinner at the field of Sanotint Bollate, the club where Dutch Team player Saskia Kosterink is playing this year in her second season.
Day 1 ended with a brief team-meeting in the hotel and then its was off to bed early, except of course the webmaster of this website.
